Mepal Community Pavilion
Opened in July 2007, the Community Pavilion provides a picturesque setting on Mepal’s beautiful Recreation Field to meet a multitude of needs. This modern building, with its well-stocked kitchen and function room opening out onto the Recreation Field, has been used for meetings, photography sessions, coffee mornings, fundraising events, birthday parties, specialist school tuition & training sessions.
Because of its situation on the recreation field and proximity to Mepal’s excellent Children’s Play Area, the Pavilion is the ideal choice for children’s birthday parties or a family get-together.
Booking Information
Mepal Community Pavilion is owned and run by Mepal Parish Council. The current hire rates were approved at the 24th July 2023 Parish Council Meeting.
Mepal Parish Council does not have a general power of competence due the low number of elected Councillors, so any financial support to community groups can only be made through our Section 137 powers via the annual grant application. We are legally unable to make any awards out of the grant window, and applications must be submitted before the last Friday in October. Grants are paid out to successful applicants the following April. Full details of the grants process is available on the grant page.

The hire costs for the use of the Recreation Field for specific one-off events will be negotiated with the hirer dependant on the specific use required and length of the booking and whether use of the Pavilion is included.
If the hirer does not leave the premises in the condition they found it at the start of the hire period, then a cleaning charge of £30 will be applied.
Public Liability Insurance
If you are running a public event (rather than a private event or party) then under the T&C of the hire agreement you must provide us with a copy of your public liability insurance. The PC insurance policy does not cover third party facility hire. The recreation field is a public space and Public Liability Insurance is a type of insurance policy that event holders can purchase in order to provide cover for the costs and expenses incurred as a result of a claim made against you due to your negligence. It protects the policy holder from unwanted and/or unaffordable costs and expenses relating to accidental bodily harm, damage/loss of property and even death. A number of providers offer single one-off event cover from £25 and a simple internet search can guide you in your selection.
