Big Village Picnic extra information from 3-6pm Sunday 5th June (weather permitting!)

We would like to give residents a little more information of what will be happening on the Recreation Field (if you don’t know where this is – that’s the big field between Laurel Close and Witcham Road owned by the Parish Council). We are hoping that the weather will hold for us all and we are aware that some of the residents backing onto the field will also get together outside their fence line to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee which is great – but what is the Parish Council up to? Firstly there is no charge for any of the activities or refreshments. We will be opening the Pavilion for everyone to have a look around, and we have some donated cakes and refreshments on offer for you all with voluntary donations to go to the local Emergency First Responders. We are going to run a fun quiz around the field with some small prizes for winners and you will have an opportunity to see the work that the parish Council have done and our plans for coming years. We hope that if the weather is fine, many of you can come out and bring your own picnic to enjoy on the field, and we will put some seats out for those who not want to sit on the grass! There will be some seating in the Pavilion itself and we will also have the Parish Council gazebo set up with more seating.
This is a joint event with the Mepal Sports Football Club, who have generously paid for the Football Fun factory to set some inflatables up to entertain the children (as long as it is not windy!). They have a beat the goalie competition, tombola stalls and also some pop up kids goals and another marquee – so we all hope that this is a great opportunity for us all to get together and have a fun afternoon.
