Emergency Road Closure 23/240 Witcham Road, Mepal

The County of Cambridgeshire hereby gives notice that from 11:33hrs on 13th January 2023, no vehicle shall proceed along Witcham Road, Mepal as lies between the recreation Ground and Mepal Road.

Access will be maintained to properties affected by this Order. The alternative route for vehicles is via Witcham Road, Mepal Road, Martins Lane, The Slade, Ely Road, Sutton Bypass, Mepal Bypass, Sutton Road (C127) and vice versa.

This Notice is made in the interest of safety because of emergency burst water main repair works and will remain effective whilst there is a risk of public danger but not for more than 21 days.

It is anticipated that these works will take place between 13th January 2023 and 19th January 2023

This Order has been approved and will come into operation on 13 January 2023. All necessary legal procedures have been attended to by ourselves, and the emergency services are copied in to this email.

Please note, the signing schedule has not been checked in detail. The signage of the closure must be in accordance with the Traffic Signs Manual Chapter 8 and must comply with the Safety at Roadworks and Street Works Code of Practice.  Adequate signing of the alternative route is entirely the responsibility of the applicant. The applicant MUST place Advanced Warning Signs at each end of the highway to be closed at least 14 days prior to the closure informing the travelling public of the start and end dates of the closure.
