IMPORTANT: Laurel Close Play Area and Basketball Area – Maintenance Closure Advice

Week commencing 25th August 2025 the “Play Area” located at Laurel Close will be closed so the new Swing Set can be installed.  

The initial closure took place on 18th August so that the new frame could be installed, this then needed time to harden before the swing seats could be installed, which should happen w/c 25 August. Please respect the closures in place to allow normal service to resume as soon as possible and follow the advice from the contractors  for your own safety. The area allocated for the replacement swing set will be fenced off, but we hope to re-open other areas wherever possible during the week, if safe to do so.

In addition, the Basketball court on the field will be closed from 18th August 2025 to allow for the old and damaged basketball hoop to be removed and a new one installed. Once the hoop has been installed and the installation has hardened, there will be a new surface laid to replace the old one.  This work will take longer, and we ask everyone to respect the closure in place at all times.  Again, we hope to have this open as soon as possible for everyone’s enjoyment, but this is not likely to be before w/c 13 September due to the time taken for the old post to be dug out, the new post cemented in and for the new surface to set. If we are able to open the area sooner we will.

We had hoped to carry the work out earlier in July, but needed to wait for the grant process to compete before work was started. We apologies for any inconvenience and disruption, but everyone’s wellbeing and safety is our priority.
