Interim Clerk Appointment
Following the meeting of Mepal Parish Council on 9th September 2026, the Council has appointed Philip Harty as Interim Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer to Mepal Parish Council. (Minute 090926/13)
Philip has been engaged on an interim basis to ensure that the Council can continue to fulfil its statutory responsibilities while longer-term staffing arrangements are considered.
The Council intends to advertise the permanent Clerk position in due course. Before doing so, Members will review the budget implications of the Council’s recent decision to revert to the use of external contractors for certain services and support functions.
Residents are reminded that all Parish Council enquiries, requests and concerns relating to Mepal should be directed to Mepal Parish Council through the Interim Clerk or via the Council’s published contact arrangements. Whilst Philip also provides clerking services to other parish councils, those councils are entirely separate organisations and are unable to deal with matters relating to Mepal on the Council’s behalf.
The Council appreciates residents’ patience and understanding during this interim period as it works to maintain services and ensure the effective operation of the Parish Council.
