Mepal Parish Council

Mepal Crematorium Project

ECDC want to make sure that the future use of the Council’s land located in Mepal, formerly used by Mepal Outdoor Centre, is sustainable. This will not only protect the site from further vandalism and arson, but also to provide an end use that will benefit residents of East Cambridgeshire and create jobs for local people.

Since the closure of the outdoor centre at the end of 2016, the Mepal site has become home to important wildlife and is rich in biodiversity. Therefore, any proposal for development of the site must be sensitive to its natural assets.
In response to this challenge, the Council has developed a green crematorium project to deliver a sustainable end use that will benefit residents and create jobs for local people, while protecting the natural assets of the site.

The Council would like to engage with the public about the proposals and have commissioned a survey to provide crucial information to support the development of a facility that is functional for all.

To take part in the public consultation, please follow this link which will take you to the online survey.
