Mepal Parish Council looking to create a warm space for the village from November

Mepal Parish Council are proposing opening the Community Pavilion to residents once per week to provide a warm space so people know where they can go to get warm and connect with the local community.  We are looking to offer all residents free tea and coffee and other refreshments and to give people an opportunity to get together if they are struggling to keep their homes warm or are lonely through the winter months.

We want to set up a “warm bank”, the equivalent of a “food bank”, where people who can’t afford heating are invited to spend a day at no cost with heating, and providing refreshments during the day.

We are looking at providing this open house every Monday from November to March at the Community Pavilion, located on the edge of the Recreation Field off Witcham Road, and will be finalising plans and looking for local business support to approve this at the October Parish Council meeting.
