Parish Council receives a good response for help to open the play park

Councillors have recently responded to an idea that we could establish a volunteer rota to carry out play park inspections to make sure that the play area is safe to use Saturday – Wednesday by asking for volunteers via the Mepal People FaceBook Community Group (not affiliated to the Parish Council).

Our Grounds and Maintenance Manager is able to carry out the full legally required ROSPA safety inspections on his Thursday and Friday workdays, but having some volunteers to check that the play area is safe each morning from Saturday – Wednesday will help us to safely re-open the park, now that the repair work to remove the damaged bridge and fill in the pond in the play area is completed.

We have received a good response so far and we hope to discuss an opening date at the next Parish Council meeting on 24th November as we are committed to getting the area open as soon as possible; having a group of volunteers to cover the days that the PC part-time staff cannot cover will really help to achieve this.
