Grant Applications
Under our Section 137 powers (Power of local authorities to incur expenditure for certain purposes not otherwise authorised), Mepal Parish council is allowed to use a small proportion of the precept each year to award a grant to village organisations. These must be charities or not-for-profit organisations and the grant must directly benefit Mepal residents. If you are setting up a new group and are thinking about asking the Parish Council for support, the only mechanism now available is via the S137 grant applications. No preference will be given to established groups when grant applications are considered and we will evaluate the grants on the basis of the terms in the policy.

All grant applications for the following financial year must be received between 1st September and the last Friday in October
Any applications received will not be considered until the Full Parish Council meeting held in November following the end of October deadline of any such year.
Payment of any successful grant will be made in the new financial year from the following April.
