Further Update on public meeting on Thursday regarding Sutton GP surgery closure

The GP Partners at Priors Field Surgery who currently hold a contract to deliver services at Priors Field Surgery are taking retirement from the contract (ie have served notice on the contract, the doctors themselves are NOT retiring, contrary to the impression on the Fenland Group Practice website).

As a result, we have been informed that Priors Field Surgery will close when this contract ends on 31 March 2023. The announcement to close the surgery, part of Fenland Group Practice [FGP], was made on the FGP website on February 23 and said that the GP partners who currently hold a contract to deliver services at Priors Field Surgery are taking retirement from the practice. The practice said options to keep the surgery open had been explored but that “sustainable option within Sutton is not viable at this time”. East Cambridgeshire District Council has said it is extremely concerned over the announced closure of the GP practice at Priors Field and is ‘urgently looking into’ the issue. At the meetings on Tuesday 7th March we were informed that they are all working hard to find a solution to retain and improve  primary care services in Sutton, and if this is possible the surgery will be retained, but if not work will continue to re-instate services as soon as possible.

In the meantime, residents have been told that they can find out more information here. This story is fast moving and so we will amend as and when we get new information.

NEW VENUE Attend the meeting in St Andrew’s Church, High St, Sutton CB6 2RH on Thursday, March 9, between 6.30pm – 7.30pm.

County Councillor Lorna Dupree was approached by the Clerk of Mepal Parish Council and along with District Councillor Mark Inskip both kindly agreed to re-arrange schedules on Monday 27th February and spoke at the Mepal Warm Hub at the Village Hall on 27th February to talk to Mepal residents about their concerns and answer questions.
