Mepal Parish Council

Your Parish Council

Your Parish Council

Do you know you currently have only 4 Parish Councillors, out of the 7 needed for your Parish? They all do their best to resolve, comply and improve your community, as do staff members.

It saddens us when we see unkind comments on the village’s social media platforms, quoting incorrect details that are not supported by official Parish Council documents available to the public via our website.

We would ask those people who feel it necessary to be critical towards others, to take a minute to think of the impact this has on someone’s wellbeing.

Do you know what losing just 2 of your current parish councillors would mean? The Clerk would have to contact the local Electoral Team and they will pull in District Councillors to act as our Parish Councillors until enough people stand by co-option to make a quorum. This would badly affect the whole community!

We would encourage you to:

  1. Read our minutes. All of the details of spending and decisions are there should you wish to look for them, social media will not provide you with this information
  2. Email or call the Clerk (clerk@mepalparish.org) and or a Councillor rather than place ‘announcements’ on social media, thinking this is asking a question. They would be happy to officially help.
  3. Please come to one (or all) of our meetings – raise your concerns, ask questions, learn more about why things happen the way they do
  4. Join the Council and help us to manage the priorities – step up and be a Councillor and help improve your community

Within our limited resources we try to post information from the Parish Council Website to the community Facebook group to use this as a virtual noticeboard. These posts normally have commenting turned off as this is not an official communication route due to the personal and individual nature of Facebook.

Please contribute in a positive way and be mindful to be kind and courteous to everyone within the Parish and the Parish Council.
